Livelihood and Food Security
Food security and sustainable livelihoods are critical components of human development and well-being. They are interconnected facets that ensure individuals and communities can access sufficient, safe, and nutritious food to maintain a healthy life. We play a role in addressing these issues by implementing programs and initiatives that enhance food security and promote sustainable livelihoods.
- The different communities we work with are exposed to range of shocks and stresses; from droughts and floods to long-term effects of climate change, to conflict and market disruptions and range of personalized family level shocks. To reduce susceptibility of communities to these shocks, we works with local communities and governments to strength early warning systems, develop disaster management and response mechanisms and take early action to minimize the impact of shocks.
- We support small businesses and entrepreneurship through microfinance, vocational training, and market access, enabling individuals to diversify their income sources.
- We provide immediate food aid while also working on long-term resilience strategies, such as establishing community food banks and disaster preparedness plans during crisis.
